Where Ambrosia Began: Jan's Story
Ambrosia began in Jan's kitchen with a simple question: how can we help fresh produce last longer? This is the story of how one family's idea became a handcrafted kitchen essential.
There wasn't a business plan on the kitchen table.
There wasn't a warehouse, a logo, or even the idea of a company.
There was simply Jan, standing in her kitchen, unpacking beautiful produce from the farmers market and wondering why it never seemed to last as long as she hoped.
Like so many good ideas, Ambrosia began with a problem at home.
Jan loved to cook. She loved wandering through farmers markets, filling her basket with leafy greens, fresh herbs, and whatever fruit happened to be in season. But too often, those ingredients would lose their freshness before they could make it to the dinner table.
It felt wasteful. More importantly, it felt disappointing.
There had to be a better way.
Looking Back to Move Forward
Long before plastic bags and disposable packaging, people stored food differently.
Natural fibers allowed produce to breathe. Fresh ingredients were treated with care because they mattered—not just because they were expensive, but because they were meant to nourish families and bring people together.
Inspired by those traditions, Jan began experimenting with different materials and different ways to store produce.
Little by little, Ambrosia took shape.
What started as an idea in one kitchen became something that could help kitchens everywhere.
Built Around Real Life
Ambrosia was never created to encourage perfection.
It was created for ordinary moments.
A salad made on a Tuesday night.
Fresh herbs added to soup.
Berries tucked into a lunchbox.
A family gathering around the table after a long day.
The goal has always been simple: help people enjoy more of the food they bring home.
A Family Business
As Ambrosia grew, it stayed rooted in the values that inspired it from the very beginning.
Quality over quantity.
Thoughtfulness over convenience.
A belief that good food deserves care.
Today, every bag is still handcrafted in Southern California, carrying forward the same spirit that first inspired Jan all those years ago.
Because Ambrosia isn't really about bags.
It's about slowing down, gathering around the table, and making the most of every season.
