As this year comes to a close, I’ve been thinking about the small choices we make in our homes.
A year-end reflection from Ambrosia co-founder Jordan on family, craftsmanship, and how one handmade linen bag grew into a mission rooted in care, intention, and reducing food waste.
Hi there,
As this year comes to a close, I’ve been thinking about the small choices we make in our homes. How we care for our food. How we choose quality over convenience. How intention shows up in the everyday.
Before Ambrosia was our family business, it was a single linen bag made by my mom in her sewing room. I didn’t know it then, but that small experiment would change the course of our lives.
Growing up, my mom often juggled multiple jobs to keep a roof over our heads and healthy food on our plates. Even with days that full, she always made time to sew. That sewing room was where she could slow down, dream, and create something hopeful.
When she handed me the very first Ambrosia bag, I didn’t expect it to work as well as it did. I certainly didn’t imagine that one raw linen bag would grow into a mission rooted in reducing food waste and caring for what we bring home.
That was in 2015. Nearly eleven years later, I feel deep gratitude for my mom’s creativity, her tenacity, and her belief in simple, natural solutions.
Now in her early seventies, she still works in Ambrosia every day, fulfilling orders, talking with customers, and bringing the same care she always has.
We chat multiple times a day and see each other weekly. Even when the reason is work, it’s really a way for us to stay close and build something meaningful together.
What makes this work possible is people like you. People who care about wasting less, supporting American craftsmanship, and choosing thoughtful, well made products.
As we look ahead, our mission is taking on new life. We are working toward becoming a certified B Corp and planting 50,000 more trees in the coming year, guided by the belief that small, intentional choices can create lasting change.
By bringing Ambrosia Bags into your kitchen, you are part of that impact in a quiet but meaningful way.
It is an absolute honor to continue my mom’s work and share it with this community.
Thank you for being part of this year with us. It truly means more than I can say.
With gratitude,
Jordan
