A September Kitchen Reset

There is something about Labor Day weekend that always feels like the turning of a page.

Summer isn't quite over. There are still tomatoes on the counter, peaches in the fruit bowl, and plenty of warm evenings ahead.

But the rhythm begins to change.

School is back. Calendars start filling up. The garden looks a little different than it did in June. And slowly, our kitchens begin making room for fall.

The Last of Summer

This time of year gives us the best of both seasons.

We're still eating ripe tomatoes, cucumbers, herbs, peaches, and late-summer greens, but we're beginning to see the first signs of fall at the farmers market.

It's a wonderful reminder to enjoy what is here while it's here.
